Born and raised in the city of Detroit, Michigan, I had my first introduction into the fire service in 1992 as a Detroit firefighter. Over the course of my decades of service with the city, I received training in high-angle, confined space, and trench rescue. As a member of this department, I have fought hundreds of fires, whether vehicle, residential, or commercial. In 2017, I received a service retirement and moved down south to the state of Georgia.
While in Georgia, I returned to the fire service as a member of the Long County fire department. It was here that I saw another side of firefighting: wildland fires. As a member of a department significantly smaller than Detroit, I was tasked with performing all aspects of the fire service at each call including incident command, engineer, officer, and firefighter. This experience helped me to appreciate how to do more with less. My career with Long County culminated with me attaining the position of Deputy Chief.
Realizing that I had so much more to give to the fire service and wanting to inspire another department, I find myself at Lewis County Fire District 6. It is my pleasure to serve as your Chief and look forward to helping the department further care for our dear citizens.
As for education, I hold an associate degree in business administration and am finishing my bachelor’s degree in fire administration. I am also a certified Fire Inspector and Fire Instructor. I look forward to learning and growing with this department and am hopeful that I can inspire this county to continued greatness.
