Wildland Urban Interface Training has started for 2018!
Fire District 6 hosted a Washington State Fire Training Academy course through the National Fire Academy called "Wildland Urban Interface firefighting for the Company Officer" in January. This two day course identifies operation activities and safety concerns for company officers assigned to a wildland incident. Topics covered included wildland/wildland urban interface firefighting, interface environment, wildlandfire behavior, command and control issues of wildland firefighting, and tactics.
Chief Tim Kinder stated "I'm pleased with the training that took place these two days. This is needed training for our county and we are happy to host this event." The training had 40 students from all over western Washington. "It is our goal to work closer with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and other agencies in protecting our Fire District and county residents during those incidents involving wildland fires," Kinder said.
Fire District 6 would like to congratulate Adna Elementary School students who won the 2017 fire safety poster contest. Contest judges loved the creativity all students expressed in their art and the decisions were not easy.
Fire District 6 is continuously accepting applications for volunteers looking to help their community. Please take a moment to review this information sheet about becoming a volunteer firefighter/EMT. To fill out an application, go to our "Apply" page.
